Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner received $178,535 from the Massachusetts Campus Hunger-Free grant program to support the school's effort to minimize food insecurity among its students. The grant is funded by the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act. MWCC's Addressing Food Security and Expanding Basic Needs Services project will have a full-time basic needs specialist and include community partnerships to help with food security initiatives, the purchasing of refrigerated lockers at the school's Leominster campus pantry, and software to allow the pantry to expand its hours for food pick-up, according to a Dec.
