The city of Leominster derided it, and so did the Massachusetts Nursing Association along with other stakeholders. UMass Memorial Health's proposal to mitigate the effects of its imminent closure of the Leominster Hospital's maternity ward falls completely short of adequately addressing the concerns raised by the Department of Public Health. A response coordinated by the Massachusetts Nursing Association dismissed UMass Memorial Health's plan to offset the effects of the closure. Referring to the 17-page plan that had been required of UMass Memorial Health and submitted recently to the DPH, Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella said that the submission wasn't really a plan, but just a promise of a plan.
