Wisconsin marketing and commercial printing company Quad will transfer some work and equipment to its Franklin packaging facility after it closes a packaging plant in Leominster, Massachusetts, idling 60 employees. Sussex-based Quad/Graphics Inc. (NYSE: QUAD) said the closing will be completed by late April and is part of the company's ongoing strategy optimize its North American packaging platform. The Massachusetts closing follows by less than one month the company announcing it will close a printing plant in Merced, California, laying off 240 employees as part of Quad's 'ongoing strategy to maximize capacity utilization.
